Terry “Quaid” McQuaid

Our larger than life, well-loved and passionate Terry, left this world on November 25, 2025, at the age of 69.

Fun loving, quick thinking and sharp witted, Terry went big with his life in an adventurous and fulfilling way. River rafting, skydiving, snow skiing, scuba diving in Honduras and the Caribbean, and floating through Napa Valley in a hot air balloon. He summited Mt. Whitney at 50 and was a published author. He was an avid music lover and upon meeting you for the first time, he would always ask what your first concert was. Many friends have watched his beloved Woodstock DVD with him. Quaid hated to love The Eagles, but they did bring him a Super Bowl win this year. And lest we forget, he was “Best Dressed,” Maple Shade High School, Class of 1974!

Terry was born in Camden, NJ to Bernard and Verona, and raised in Maple Shade, NJ. He carried a lifelong love for his small town and the family and friends that were instrumental in his life. Many of his happiest memories and stories revolved around Maple Shade, the town that never left his heart.

After graduating from Springfield College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1978, Quaid eventually made his way to the sunny west coast in 1983, first to Seal Beach before settling in Long Beach. The California landscape captivated him. To be able to ski the mountains in the morning then be back at the beach in time for a barbecue that night…he was smitten! He had found his new home and spread his wings happily here for the last 42 years.

Terry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years, Laurie and his dog Norman, his brother Jack (Shirley) McQuaid, mother-in-law Joan O’Leary, brothers-in-law Paul (Katy) Homrig, George (Martha) Homrig, sister-in-law Kelly (Matt) Whitback, nieces Kristin (Steve) Dixon, Kelly McQuaid, Melissa (Jason) Etten, nephews Kevin (Jessica) McQuaid, Sean (Rebecca) Pedigo, nine great nieces and nephews and countless lifelong friends.

Terry wanted you to know that he loved you all very much, and you made his life worth living.

A celebration of life will be held in 2026 to honor the life that Terry lived so well.

     We love you, Terry.
