Our beloved mother, grandmother, and dear friend, Regina Mary Williams, affectionately known as Gina, Mom, and Mémé, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025. Born on February 3, 1953, in Washington, D.C., she was the eighth of nine children of Lt. Col. Joseph Katalinas and Regina Katalinas.
Regina dedicated her life to caring for others, working as an intensive care nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach, California for 38 years. Her strength, compassion, and steady presence were a comfort to all who knew her—patients, colleagues, family, and friends alike.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Melissa Williams, Alvin Williams and his wife Kim, Dan Williams and his partner Shannon. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Thomas Stephens, Presley Williams, Tessa Williams, and Tiernan Buchanan. Regina also leaves behind a large extended family and many cherished friends, all of whom were deeply touched by her loyalty and love. A lifelong learner, Regina had a curious mind and a generous heart. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life: quiet hours with a good book, spending time with her loved ones, and passionately managing her fantasy football team.
She approached every aspect of life with thoughtfulness, warmth, and quiet strength. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and deep, steady love will live on in all who had the gift of knowing her. It is with love and gratitude that we invite you to join us in celebrating the life of our mom, Regina. She lived every day for her family and filled the lives of those around her with grace and gentleness.
