Born and raised in Illinois, Flo lived in Virginia and New York before moving to Long Beach, California in 1970. She also lived in Seal Beach and Stanton.
She earned an AA degree from Long Beach City College in 1971, a BA in history from Cal State LB in 1977 and a Master of Library Science from UCLA in 1980. In 1984 she began working for the Long Beach Public Library starting as a substitute and advancing to a full-time Children's Librarian in 1987.
She retired in 1996 and kept busy volunteering as an usher for 3 playhouses, an officer for her homeowners’ group, a variety of duties for the Long Beach Memorial Hospice Program, and for the Southland Senior Olympics. She also golfed, hiked, took many day trips and a cross-country train trip. Her smile and laughter are greatly missed.
Per her wishes, no service was held. Her ashes will be scattered near Catalina Island. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
