Donald Ray Wills, 55, passed away on Wednesday, March the 11th of 2026 in Long Beach, CA. Donald, who preferred to go by Don to many of his family and friends is the son of the late Mae Evans and Matthew Wills and was born on the 14th of June, 1970 in Hopkinsville, KY.
Donald attended the Worldwide Church of God in Clarksville, Tennessee and he then shortly after graduating from Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, Kentucky joined the United States Navy from July 1989 to August of 1997. While in the Navy, he was able to attain the rank of SH3 and was honorably discharged. He had gone on his first sea service deployment during the Gulf War.
After getting out of the Navy, he worked full-time for over 20 years as a fuel tank driver. He earned and worked his way up in that career to become a well experienced driver and made a good life for himself and loved ones. He enjoyed traveling, driving over long distances and being with his family and friends whenever he could. His home in his heart and mind would always be California and would be laid to rest at the Riverside VA National Cemetery.
Alongside his parents, he is preceded in death by his his two baby sisters Lula Mae Wills and Dorothy Sean Wills, brother Austin Wills, and Zelma Wills who recently passed on December 29th of 2025. Survivors include his son Donald DeVante Wills, siblings Renda Byars and Patricia Wills both of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Andrew Wills of Texas and a host of cousins and nephews. He is deeply loved and missed by all who knew him well and we are thankful for the life and light he brought into all of our lives and for his service to his country.
