Daniel Patrick Del Castillo

Daniel Patrick Del Castillo, known to many as “Dan” or “Danny,” was born in Los Angeles, California on March 31, 1966, and passed away in Long Beach, California, surrounded by his loving family and friends on April 21, 2025.

Danny was the fourth of eight children and the first of five brothers born to Henry and Mimi Del Castillo. Danny is survived by his mother, and siblings: Theresa (and husband Richard) Martinez, Cass, Deborah, David, Darren (and wife Darcy), Christopher, and Timothy (and wife Sarah).

Danny was a lifelong musician and a true connoisseur of music. He began as a drummer in his youth, later making the guitar his signature instrument and greatest passion. Over the years, he played in numerous punk rock and rock & roll bands, including Malicious Intent, The Dull Divines, Subculture, Doom County, US Crush, and most recently, Brian Jones Was Murdered.

Known for his tender heart and fun-loving spirit, Danny was both mischievous and deeply loyal. His passions extended beyond music to politics, the world at large, and most importantly, the people he loved. He built enduring friendships and was celebrated for his rebellious, maverick nature—never afraid to speak his mind and always lighting up any room he entered.

Dan’s personal style was as dynamic as his personality, evolving from punk rock to glam, pop culture, car culture, and motorcycles. He was, by his own admission (and to the amusement of those close to him), quite vain—something he would have wanted mentioned.

In 2020, Dan suffered a tragic motorcycle accident that left him neurologically devastated. For the past five years, he was cared for by his family and his devoted advocate, Sharon Burdick. In his final days, he was surrounded by family and friends from across the decades, all coming together to honor a truly unique soul.

Danny was well-loved and lived a life true to himself. He will be missed every day, but his loved ones take comfort knowing he is now on his greatest freedom ride yet.
